Paper Bookmarks - Segnalibro di carta

Yesterday we made these adorable little paper bookmarks and I thought they would be a fun blog post. 

Ieri abbiamo fatto degli adorabili segnalibri di carta e ho pensato che sarebbero una cosa molta carina da condividere sul blog.

We made a little monster together and then my daughter decorated it while I made the others. This is a good method to employ if you are making them for gifts or for some special occasion that they have to be nice and neat. The child still gets to participate but will have an easier time leaving the ones you're making alone. If you're just making them for fun then I'd just make them together. They're so easy to make, really the only thing a young child can't do is fold the papers. Each fold has to be neat and precise (-ish) otherwise it won't hold. 

Noi abbiamo fatto insieme il mostro azzurro e poi mia figlia lo ha decorato mentre io ho fatto gli altri. Questo è un buon metodo se ne dovete fare per regalo o per qualche evento che servono puliti e precisi. Il vostro bimbo puo' comunque partecipare e sarà più facile che lasci stare quelli su cui state lavorando voi. Se invece li fate così per passare il tempo insieme e avere un segnalibro carino come ricordo allora è molto più divertente farli insieme. Sono così facili da fare, veramente l'unica cosa che non riescono a fare i piccoli piccoli è di fare le pieghe precise. Per farlo tenere bene bisogna fare le pieghe (più o meno) precise quindi dovrete fare voi il corpo e loro possono decorarli.

Start by folding the bottom corner up to create a triangle of whatever size you prefer. Cut around it to eliminate all any extra paper. If your paper is already square, you can just fold it in half along the diagonal. 

Cominciate piegando un foglio dal angolo inferiore in su fino ad ottenere un triangolo della misura desiderata. Tagliate la carta intorno. Se avete un pezzo di carta che già è un quadrato piegatelo a metà sulla diagonale.

 






Next, fold the right corner up to the center point. Repeat with left corner. You should end up with a square shape that is divided in half into two triangles.

Poi piegate la parte destra, portando l'estremità destra al punto in cima. Ripetete sul altro lato fino ad ottenere di nuovo un quadrato diviso a metà in due triangoli.

 

Then unfold those last two and fold the top side of the paper from the top point down, using the line to the side folds as your half-point. 

Poi aprite le ultime due pieghe e, usando i punti più alti come limite, piegate in più lo strato superiore del triangolo originale, partendo dalla punta e portandola fino a centro dell'ipotenusa.

Fold the right flap IN behind the fold. Repeat with left flap. Now your shape is finished, you can leave it as is, and allow your child to decorate it with cut outs or markers, or anything you want really. I would bear in mind that if you're going to use it as a bookmark it is going to be between the pages of a book, so sparkles and colored sand, as much as I love them, are probably not a great idea.  

Piegate poi l'ala destra dentro e dietro la piega che avete appena fatto. Ripetete questo passo con l'ala sinistra. Adesso il corpo è finito. Potete lasciarlo così com'è per un segnalibro semplice, oppure potete decorarlo con i pennarelli o dei pezzetti di carta, o qualsiasi cosa volete. Sconsiglio però i brillantini o la sabbia colorata, per quanto mi possano piacere, se intendete usarli come segnalibro.

 

For the giraffe I cut out the horns, folding the paper and cutting them simultaneously so as to get the same shape for both. Then I cut out the ears and pink pieces for the inner ear using the same method. I also drew the eyes and nose on in marker. 

Per la giraffa ho tagliato le corna, piegando la carta a metà in modo da poterle tagliare contemporaneamente e ottenere due forme uguali. Ho usato lo stesso metodo per tagliare le orecchie e il rosa per il dentro delle orecchie. Ho anche disegnato i fori per il naso e gli occhi usando un pennarello nero. 

 

Then I cut a rounded piece for the tongue.

Poi ho tagliato un pezzo di carta arrotondata per la lingua.

 

 Tadaaaa!

I used the same steps with different colored paper to create the bodies of the dog and crocodile, the blue one is the original monster that my little one decorated with scraps of paper and her markers. I also made a very cute pink hippo that was immediately ripped to shreds. Unfortunately the only ones to survive the night are the crocodile and the giraffe. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to make more!

Ho fatto gli stessi passi, usando della carta di colori diversi, per fare il corpo del cane, il coccodrillo e quel mostro azzurro è l'originale che mia figlia ha decorato con della carta tagliata e i suoi pennarelli. Ho fatto anche un ippopotamo rosa carinissimo ma è stato subito fatto a pezzetti. Sfortunatamente il coccodrillo e la giraffa sono gli unici sopravvissuti. Beh, significa che ne dovremo fare ancora!
