I hope all you busy moms had a nice "day off" and all of your children were kind and appreciative.

Spero che abbiate avuto un buon "giorno di riposo" e che i vostri figli siano stati buoni e bravi.

In honor of Mother's Day I thought my blog could use a practical recipe to keep us busy moms well-caffeinated and moving along with million and one things we have to accomplish in an hour.

In onore della Festa della Mamma ho pensato di pubblicare sul mio blog una ricetta utile per mantenere i nostri livelli di caffeina per completare quella lista infinita di cose che abbiamo da fare.

First off I'd like to say that as much as I like to pretend that I am that supermom who has all the answers and never goes out in her pajamas or forgets to brush her teeth, sadly, I am not that mom. I too wake up to find day-old coffee in the french press. So I have found a way to make a sad discovery into a joyous surprise. CARAMEL ICED COFFEE (FLOAT)

Per prima cosa voglio ammettere che per quanto mi possa piacere fare finta di essere una di quelle supermamme che sanno tutto, non escono mai in pigiama e non si dimenticano mai di lavarsi i denti; ahimè anch'io alcune mattine trovo il caffè del giorno prima nella caffettiera francese. Quindi sono riuscita a trovare il modo di trasformare questa scoperta da una triste delusione in una sorpresa gioiosa.

For this recipe you will need caramel sauce (link below), you may add whipped cream and/or ice cream and for extra credit you can use some simple syrup (I find the caramel works fine as a solo sweetener but hey, you're a mom, sometimes you just need the extra sweetness).

Per questa ricetta avrete bisogno del caramello (troverete la ricetta in fondo), potete aggiungervi anche la panna montata e/o il gelato. Per una marcia in più potete aggiungervi anche lo sciroppo semplice (io trovo che il caramello sia più che sufficiente, però d'altronde siamo mamme, a volte una giornata piuttosto amara ha bisogno di più dolcezza).

Vi ricordate quel caffè che avete appena trovato?

Grab a glass or plastic cup. I used a to-go cup because I had one, there is no wrong way to drink this.

Prendete un bicchiere. Io ho usato un bicchiere da portar via perché lo avevo a casa, ma potete usare quello che preferite. Non c'è modo sbagliato per bere questa delizia.

Throw a scoop of ice cream in there (or ice if that's how you roll).

Aggiungetevi del gelato (oppure del ghiaccio se preferite).
