Groups of 10 Game - Gioco delle decine

I only have one craft for you today, I am writing this quickly while my partner finishes up giving the kids a bath so this is not likely to be my most eloquent post.

Oggi ho solo un laboratorio per voi, vi scrivo questo post così come viene un po' al volo mentre il mio compagno finisce di fare il bagno ai piccoli quindi non sarà il massimo dell'eloquenza.

During the week my daughter has been doing online classes with her teachers and a small group of classmates, and in their Math class they did groups of ten. We do a lot of English workbooks to keep her at the same level with her english as with her Italian so we had already studied groups of ten but she wasn't familiar with the terminology. So I wanted to be sure that she got it and wanted to find a way to make it into a practical, tactile game that she could apply her new learning to.

Durante questa settimana mia figlia ha fatto lezione online con i suoi maestri e un gruppo ridotto di compagni e a Matematica hanno imparato le decine. Noi a casa di solito facciamo le paginette dei libri scolastici in Inglese per mantenere il livello d'inglese pari al italiano quindi l'argomento non le era nuovo ma non riusciva bene ad inquadrarlo perché i termini le erano nuovi. Quindi volevo trovare un gioco che potesse aiutarla a fare un po' di pratica.

Tomorrow is my baby's birthday so my attention has been mostly on trying to come up with some solution to the "no presents", "no party", "no decorations" problem that the lock down entails but I did manage to muster up the creativity to make a game out of an unfinished toilet paper shaker and the food tiles we made when I still remembered what it felt like to have a picnic...like outside.

Domani è il compleanno del mio piccolino quindi la maggior parte della mia attenzione è occupata a risolvere il problema "nessun regalo", "nessuna festa", "nessuna decorazione" che la quarantena ci ha portato, ma sono riuscita comunque a trovare la creatività per creare un gioco con un sonaglio mezzo finito e le tesserine di cibi che abbiamo fatto quando ancora mi ricordavo cosa ci si provava a farsi un picnic...di fuori.

I plan to make them with her by weaving the basket out of construction paper, so stay tuned for an update (or two!) on this craft.

Remember when we made the lentil shakers? We taped some parchment paper to the bottom of the toilet paper roll. Here you don't need the musical quality so you could use construction paper to a broken balloon or some cloth if you prefer.

Vi ricordate quei sonagli con le lenticchie? Abbiamo attaccato della carta forno per coprire il buco del tubo di carta igienica. Qui non serve la musicalità quindi si può coprire con della carta colorata, o un palloncino sgonfio, o della stoffa se preferite.

Next pull out those food tiles your kiddo has been coloring for three weeks.

Poi tirate fuori quelle tesserine che i vostri piccoli colorano da tre settimane.

Sort out any that won't fit and give your child a group of tiles (more than 10).

Smistate le tessere e togliete quelle troppo grandi.

Ask them to put 10 foods in the "picnic basket".

Chiedete ai bimbi di mettere 10 tessere nel "cesto".

                                                                               

How many are left? How many foods do you have in total?

Quanti ne sono rimasti? Quanti cibi abbiamo in tutto?

If I also bring a full basket how many will we have?

Quanti ne avremmo se anch'io mi portassi un cesto pieno?

Change the number of tiles and play again, with new questions and new answers.

Cambiate il numero di tessere e ricominciate con domande diverse e risposte diverse.
